Chapter 7: Mile High Club

Jacorey ran out of his house with his backpack on, headed to his car. He had a plane to catch and he had less than two hours to do it. His company was flying him and his artist Lil’ Rip out for a concert in Washington for the weekend. His eyes checked the clock on his dashboard as he swerved in and out of lanes on the highway. Once his exit came up, he made a left and continued on to his destination. When he pulled into the parking space next to her car, Jacorey was surprised, but happy to see that Summer was at home.

He hopped up and ran up the stairs. He knocked on the door nonstop until she opened it. She was dressed in a pair of black leggings and a tank top. Her hair was all down and looked fresh like she’d just washed it or something. The smile on her face didn’t mask the confusion for him standing at her door. She looked him up and down with her arms folded across her chest.

“Where you going with that book bag on?”

“Got a flight to Washington in about an hour.”

Her eyebrow raised. “So why are you here and not at the airport?”

“I came to get you, I want you to come with me.” Jacorey was a little nervous and unsure of what she would think.

“Jacorey, I have a job, I can’t just be flying across the country with you.” She was still smiling.

Not caring about anything she was saying, Jacorey brushed past her and walked in the house. He turned around and looked at her. She closed the door before looking at him. “I’ll be back Sunday night. You can still go to work Monday.”

Summer looked around the room before her eyes landed back on him. She studied him for a second before a smile spread across her face. “Alright, let me pack real quick.” She brushed past him and went to her room. He was right on her heels.

He watched her pull a bag from beneath her bed and proceed to throw clothes and shoes inside. She packed rather quickly for a female. Normally, girls did the absolute most when dealing with clothes and going places. She left the room and came back with another pink bag. He could see cords and hair stuff hanging out the top of it. She threw it into the bag and reached for her backpack that was in the top of her closet. Her phone charger, iPad, Beats headphones, and headscarf were thrown into it.

She walked into her closet and came back out with a hoodie that she stuffed into the bag and some flip flops that she slid her feet on. With her backpack on her back, she zipped her suitcase up and looked at him.

“I’m ready. Get my stuff.”

“Get your stuff? Why you gotta say it like that? Like I just have to do what you say?”

Summer laughed. “Shut up, boy, and come on.
